“VINTAGE", an exhibition that lets you discover vintage prints up close.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, an exhibition of vintage prints, "VINTAGE," is currently being held at gallery bauhaus in Ochanomizu, and I am proud to have my own vintage prints on display alongside those of prominent photographers from Japan and abroad.

Although I specialize in pinhole photography, it was my love of looking at black-and-white photographs that got me into photography in the first place, and it was the opportunity to stay in Paris for an extended period of time starting in 1990 that led me to take, develop, and print black-and-white photographs myself.

This was just before the arrival of the wave of digitalization, which would later cause the most attractive photographic papers for silver halide prints to disappear from the market one after another.

I was very lucky to barely witness the end of an era when I could actually print my own photographs on quality photographic paper.

Original prints on photographic paper are completely different from the images seen on LCD screens or in print.

In addition, the deep flavor of prints that have aged 10 or 20 years since their creation can only be experienced by actually seeing the actual prints.

The photography exhibition " VINTAGE" will be on view at gallery bauhaus until February 24, 2024.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to feel the vintage print on your skin!
